About Me- Leann Cribb

Words and language have always been an interest of mine. When I was first learning to read, I remember making my dad crazy on a family car trip by reading aloud every word on every sign we passed. As I got older, I devoured any book I could get my hands on. My mom would take me to garage and rummage sales where I could get stacks of books for $1. The more I read, the more I developed an "ear" for good writing and realized how important it was to capture an audience. When it was time to go to college, I majored in English at the University of California, Irvine (go, Anteaters!). There, I learned in detail what good writing entailed- proper spelling and grammar, of course; writing style that complements the content; clarity and accuracy; engaging word choice; and even attractive formatting.
After college, I worked as an Executive Assistant with various companies and institutions, working to improve and enhance their image by using my language and organizational skills. Of course, like with most jobs, I couldn't spend all my time doing the tasks I enjoyed most, so after 25 years, I decided to start my own business so I could focus on the things I enjoy most. Now, I am a virtual freelance copy editor and proofreader here to work with writers of all levels. While my first goal is to help you polish your writing and get it ready for submission or publication, I hope to help you sharpen your writing skills (through accurate copy editing), so you can become more efficient in your writing process.
On a personal note, respect for people is the foundation of my work ethic. Everyone deserves to be treated respectfully, even in situations where opinions might differ. I understand that one's writing is personal and that my editing is provided upon your request. In the end, you, the author, have the final say.
